The late Jerry Solom built a 38' Bruce Roberts steel sailboat he christened "Indian Summer," and sailed it to Norway in 2000. Here he and his son Terry have a celebratory toast of Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum on their North Atlantic home bound journey from Norway, in July-August of 2008, for a job well done. Terry had hoisted Jerry to the top of the fifty-foot mast to repair a fraying lanyard before it broke at a bad time.
It was no small task, for being at the top of the mast, Jerry would have pitched back and forth many feet on the ocean swells.
In 2009, Jerry was diagnosed with leukemia.
